Brazilian football players of Zenit Malcolm and Claudinho received Russian passports

Football players received Russian citizenship in February by presidential decree. Malcolm has already shown his new passport to reporters

The agent of the Brazilian football players Zenit Malcolm and Claudinho Luis Fernando Garcia told Sport-Express that both players received Russian passports.

“Yes, it is, Claudinho also has a Russian passport, like Malcolm,” the agent said.

Malcom showed his Russian passport in the mixed zone after the match with CSKA in the 20th round of the RPL.

Malcolm and Claudinho received Russian citizenship on February 24 by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Malcolm is 25 years old, he has been playing for Zenit since 2019, and he has 31 goals in 98 matches. Claudinho, 26, joined Zenit in 2021 and has scored 13 goals in 50 matches.

The RFU previously stated that the performance of the Brazilians for the Russian national team is theoretically possible: Malcolm will be able to play no earlier than 2024, subject to the change of sports citizenship through FIFA, and Claudinho - no earlier than 2026.
