Messi's transfer fee falls below €50m for the first time in 16 years

Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi's transfer fee was €45m according to Transfermarkt, the Argentine is worth less than €50m for the first time since 2007.
The portal has updated the data on the cost of the French Championship players.
In November, Transfermarkt valued Messi at €50m, and in 2018 at €180m (maximum).
This season, the 35-year-old Messi has scored 18 goals and made 17 assists in 32 matches for PSG, and won the World Cup in Qatar as part of the Argentina national team.
In addition to Messi, the cost of another star of the Parisian club, the Brazilian Neymar, also decreased (by €5 million, to €70 million).
The biggest jump in value since November was made by an 18-year-old teammate of Alexander Golovin at Monaco, Elisse Ben-Segir - from €200,000 to €18 million.
