President Vladimir Putin instructed to hold the international exhibition forum "Russia" on the territory of VDNKh in Moscow in 2023-2024. The corresponding decree is published on the portal of legal information.

“To demonstrate the most important achievements of the Russian Federation in various sectors of the economy, including industry, energy, agro-industrial complex, transport, construction, science, and culture, the positive experience of the development of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, to promote further international cooperation of the Russian Federation, I decide to establish that the international exhibition-forum "Russia" is held in 2023-2024 in Moscow on the territory of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy," the document says.

The head of state ordered the creation of an organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the exhibition. Sergei Kiriyenko, the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, became its chairman.

VDNH opened in Moscow in 1939. Then it was called the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (VSHV). During the Soviet Union, the exhibition demonstrated advanced achievements in the field of agriculture, mechanical engineering, contemporary art, space technology, and other areas.

The day before, at a meeting with members of the government, Putin said that the Russian economy has been showing positive dynamics since July 2022. This happens, among other things, due to the development of niches left by businesses after the withdrawal of Western companies from the Russian market. Another reason, according to Putin, is the development of ties with "fast-growing countries of the east and south."

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also spoke about the fact that the Russian economy has returned “to a growth trajectory”. She, he said, was able to cope with the consequences of Western sanctions.
