Doctor Fileva: the consequences of the negative impact of UV radiation are not immediately visible

Alexandra Fileva, a dermatovenereologist at the Gemotest laboratory, told RT in an interview about what health problems ultraviolet radiation can cause.

“The sun can be both a friend and an enemy to us. Ultraviolet improves metabolism and blood composition, kills pathogens of many diseases, and increases overall tone. In addition, it has a positive effect on the synthesis of the "happiness hormone" serotonin and promotes the production of vitamin D, which is necessary for the absorption of calcium. But if you do not follow the rules of exposure to the sun, ultraviolet becomes the main enemy of the health and youth of the skin, ”the expert warned.

It increases the risk of developing oncological processes in the skin; under its influence, moles can mutate into malignant tumors: melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma, the RT interlocutor said.

“Moreover, the consequences of the negative impact of UV radiation are not immediately visible, it has a cumulative effect and manifests itself years later,” Fileva said.

The expert recalled that because of the sun, the skin loses its elasticity and firmness, becomes dehydrated, and wrinkles, age spots, moles and appear on it.

“Ultraviolet contributes to the appearance or exacerbation of some dermatoses, such as photodermatosis, and rosacea. A DNA test helps to choose the right scheme for dealing with skin problems and determine the predisposition to them. Genetic testing will show how to avoid skin diseases and what to do if they have already shown themselves. The results of the study will help to choose methods of treatment for allergic reactions, rosacea, hypersensitivity, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and other diseases,” she explained.

Earlier, doctor Alexandra Fileva said in an interview with RT that dry skin may be associated with anemia, as well as a deficiency of vitamins A, B2, B3, B6, C, and E.
