Lyubov Manuyeva, head of the blood transfusion department at the Lyubertsy Regional Hospital, told how a donor should prepare for a blood transfusion.
“To become a donor, you need to reach the age of 18, have a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation with a residence permit in the country, follow a diet, and come,” she said in an interview with Radio 1.
According to her, women can donate four times a year, men five.
“After the first blood donation, the donor year begins (it doesn’t matter what date and what month you came to donate blood). And the next surrender can only be on the 61st day. Such a period is given to a person to replenish his red blood cells, ” Manuel explained.
She clarified that there are several contraindications. So, people with oncological diseases, diabetes, bronchial asthma, and blood diseases will not be able to become donors.
