Doctor: recovery of figure skater Kostomarov will last from six months to several years

Doctor Lev Averbakh named the approximate recovery time for figure skater Roman Kostomarov after amputation.

“The novel is on the mend, which is very good. There is a big recovery ahead. Roman will be under the supervision of doctors for at least six months, but given the complications, this could take up to several years. They will check blood clotting, general indicators, mental health, and so on, ” Sport24 quotes Averbakh.

The athlete was admitted to intensive care with pneumonia on the night of January 10. Because of the developed necrosis, he underwent several amputations. Later it was reported that the 46-year-old figure skater was affected by part of the brain, a hemorrhage occurred and a hematoma formed. At the moment, Kostomarov is on the mend and is preparing for prosthetics.

Earlier, Kostomarov asked the people around him not to talk about his state of health.
