Gazprom: information about lower gas prices for Kazakhstan is unreliable

The information that Russia will sell gas to Kazakhstan cheaper than other countries is not true, Gazprom said in its Telegram channel.

The state corporation referred to the information disseminated by the media concerning the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev.

Satkaliyev announced that Russia is ready to sell gas to Kazakhstan cheaper than Belarus, on April 19. “They [the Russian authorities] give us gas at a price much lower than in Belarus. <...> Russia is making advances in terms of providing a price that is several times lower than European prices and much lower than on the border of Russia and Belarus,” he said (quoted by Forbes Kazakhstan).

According to him, there is a previously agreed route for new gas pipelines from Russia, it "has the possibility of continuing to China, but now we are talking about covering gas needs in Kazakhstan."

The Kazakh Ministry of Energy, as Inbusiness reported, said that the discussed commercial terms of gas prices "are similar to the prices of gas-consuming countries of the Eurasian Union, however, taking into account transportation costs, they are better than for other countries."
